The Library’s catalogue has received several new features to make your searching and access to scholarly resources that much easier.
Get the most relevant results
Your search results in the Library catalogue are generated by matching your search terms to key information such as title, author, subject and resource descriptions.
Use the Search within full text toggle to discover more results relevant to your search. (Click to enlarge images).
When Search within full text is enabled, the results returned match your search terms to the full indexed content of resources where available. This can be useful when you would like to expand your search and find broad topic queries within the abstract, table of contents and full text of resources.
When Search within full text is disabled, the results returned match to the key information such as title, author, subject and resource description. This is useful when there are specific resources you want to find.
Find the location of books on campus
Find books quickly and easily on the Library shelves with our improved maps.
Select the Locate it button on any resource held on the Library’s shelves and view a map showing the specific set of shelves where it should be located. (Click to enlarge images).
Access to scholarly articles wherever you might be searching
Get direct access to millions of resources made available to you through UTS Library whether you are searching in the Library catalogue or across the web.
The integration of Unpaywall into the Library catalogue gives you access to an open database of over 48 million scholarly articles, making it easier to find, track and access relevant resources from across the web in one place.
This new feature gives you access to free, Open Access versions of articles that might otherwise sit behind subscriptions and allows you to download PDF versions of resources (where available) straight from the Library catalogue so you can file, annotate and save for later. LibKey adds one-click access to full text articles from the Library catalogue, the Library’s databases, and Google Scholar.
Add the browser extension and LibKey will work automatically while you search across the internet to provide one-click access to sources that might otherwise sit behind a paywall. Select University of Technology Sydney in the setup for access. Learn more about using LibKey browser extension.
Expand your search beyond the UTS Library collection
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the Library catalogue, you can expand your search to include results from partnering libraries and request to loan a resource.
Once signed in, select search beyond UTS Library at the top of the search results. (Click to enlarge images).
Once you have found what you are looking for, you can access the item online or request to loan the item from another library, depending on what format the item is available.
